I look at this picture of Whitney from her Pre-K graduation in May, and my mind begins to fast forward to what she will look like walking across the stage to receive her high school diploma 12 years from now...and then my mind rewinds to 6 years ago, this month, in which her unexpected arrival rocked our world, and we wondered if we would ever see her in a cap and gown. But God is good, and we are so thankful for the fearfully and wonderfully made creation that she is.
Tomorrow, August 4th, Whitney will be walking the halls of W.D. Richards Elementary School as a kindergartener!! She had a wonderful Pre-K experience and was discharged from her remaining therapies (speech and physical therapy) at the end of the school year, for which we were so thankful!
Whitney is a mixture of anxiousness and excitement...and I feel much the same. At dinner this evening, her emotions came to a head as she came and curled up in my lap sobbing and whispered in my ear, "I am going to miss you when I go to college." I assured Whitney that she would certainly come home from kindergarten tomorrow evening and that college was a loooooong way off!!! Choking back tears, she asked what she would do after college, and I jokingly told her that she would just move back in with Ben and I, which gave her great relief...and gave me a little bit of heartburn! ;)
If all else fails, we'll do our best to support her "under the sea" career dreams....
