Fairytale Friday

I have been anticipating this day since the moment it was announced a few months ago!! I put the date on my home and office calendars right away and have been counting down the days to the royal wedding!! I am fortunate to be off on Friday's, so was able to enjoy the fanfare without having to rush off this morning. I was one of those crazies that got up at 4 a.m. to begin watching the live coverage. I come from a lineage of early-morning crazies, so I enjoyed talking to my parents in MS several times throughout the morning as they also watched the events unfold before heading off to work. My sweet Skylar pooch wasn't long behind me in the early hours and kept me company as she snored away on the adjacent couch. Even she knew it was too early to get up, unless there was a cantankerous toddler nearby! But, this wasn't just any day! There's just something about all of the "pomp and circumstance" that is surreal, breathtaking...and oh so fairytale. It's hard not to get wrapped up in the excitement and extravagance of it all--and wonder what it would be like to be a bystander--or what William and Kate must be thinking as millions of eyes are focused on them. Oh, and those hats! WOW! A few of them looked like something out of an art gallery, but they were absolutely fascinating!!

So, I found a recipe from Nigella Lawson in People magazine last week that said these "Strawberry and Cream Mini Muffins" were the "perfect culinary complement to the big event." So, I made and enjoyed them this morning!

Beautiful.

Whitney is up at this point and anticipating the "official" kiss! That was a long countdown for a toddler! Ha! She kept saying "Mommy, princess kiss, please! Mommy, princess kiss, please!"

In full princess attire...minus pants. Don't know if the Queen would approve of her or not!

This might be the closest "throne" our little princess sits on for a while!!

Happy Royal Wedding Day!!
