Just like the old days....

I unearthed this picture of "Princess" Skylar on her "throne" in the months before that bed was stored in the attic...and our Whitney moved in! Skylar is a snuggler and loves nothing more than to be on a bed or in a bed with someone. She used to sleep with Ben and me quite often...until I became pregnant with Whitney and valued a restful night much more. While she now sleeps nestled in Ben's college comforter in the corner of our bedroom, she still makes her way under our covers every now and then. She's 12-years-old, so isn't as spry as she once was with her ability to jump on the bed. But, at 4:23 a.m. today, I heard the unmistakeable sound of Skylar's toenails against our hardwood floors as she made her way to my side of the bed after several loud claps of thunder and bright bolts of lightning left her in a typical state of thunderstorm paranoia. I plopped her up in bed with us and within seconds she was buried under the covers. As Ben was adjusting to the toenails in his back, he said "this is just like the old days..." I realized today that the warm fuzzy moments of life are possible at 4 a.m. :)
