On to our birthday projects....Some of my fondest childhood playtime memories happened in the doll house below. My dad made it, which makes it even more special. I loved playing with my Barbie dolls as a young girl. And while my brother might be embarrassed to admit it, he did, too!! I can hear him now saying, "You wanna play Barbs, Sis?!" To keep things manly, he would bring in all of his "He-Man" toys! We had some pretty sweet weddings between Barbie and He-Man.
Since Whitney has been enjoying her "Barbs," too, my parents sneakily brought the doll house during their last visit in June so we could fix it up for Whitney's birthday. The green and red shag carpet, and our old kitchen wallpaper, had to go!! Whitney's sweet Grandma and Grandpa in Indy had her over for a sleepover the weekend before her birthday so we could get to work!
First coats of paint are complete! We already had the white, turquoise, and lime. And the pink and purple came from Hobby Lobby.
Presenting the "W" mansion!! A friend gave me the 4-1-1 on local carpet samples and peel and stick tile. The purple room has black and white doll house "laminate" from Hobby Lobby.
Move in day!! Barbie and her pals are super excited!!
And now it's purple!! The freebie chair got a spray paint makeover!
Testing out the new chair and desk (in glamorous Elsa nightgown).
Seriously, what a great birthday!! We love you Whitney Claire...for real life...and for always!!
