J.R. turns TWO!

J.R. turned 2 this month, but I think we've been feeling the effects of 2 for about 6 months now!  I don't think I have any new insight about this age.  Outside of the common irrationality and impulsivity (this "two" shall pass, right?!), it can be quite a delightful life stage.  We are constantly entertained by something new J.R. is learning or saying.  But, quite frankly, we're exhausted too.  Can I get an "Amen?"

I want YOU to turn 2, too!!
Oh, but what a bright spark he adds to our family.  He fills my heart with joy and laughter. He has been singing "Happy Burfday Deaw Buddy" for weeks now!

Birthday boy smiles.
Two much info about our boy:
  • He's growing--29# 3oz, 36.75" at 2-year check-up
  • Oh, yeah, and his head is at the top of the growth chart. I feel every bit of the 95th percentile every time he rams that large protrusion into me! We've cleverly nicknamed J.R.'s head "95th percentile." It's like yelling "fore" on a golf course! We have to prepare each other for what's coming!
  • When asked his name and age, his answers are typically: "Buddy" and "6"
  • His favorite thing in the world: his "bankie"
A boy and his blankie.  A love story!

  • When asked what he eats for lunch at daycare: "Cookies!" is always his enthusiastic response.
  • When cleaning up at home, he sings: "Pwean up, pwean up, everybody do your (sounds like) s**t" (instead of "share")--my sentiments exactly
  • He's working on his manners: I could listen to him say "pwease" and "tank ew" all day!
  • But then he has a feisty side in which he likes to yell: "top it (stop it)!!" or really anything for that matter.
  • Favorite show: Paw Patrol--borderline obessession with Marshall, Chase, Zuma, Rocky, Skye, Everest, and Ryder
Representing the Pup Pack!
  • He loves to play: "twains," shoot hoops, and run "weally fast."
  • He is still a terrible shopper and barely sleeps a wink on long road trips! :(  Oh, the gray hairs from this boy!!
  • He loves to have pretend "sweepovers" with his favorite Sissy.
  • Favorite food: "ogurt smoozies" (yogurt smoothies) and "beenas" (bananas)
Paw patrol jammies, yogurt smoothie, milk, and Olaf backpack...watch out, world!
And while J.R. has become quite a Daddy's boy, he stole this Mama's heart long ago.  My prayer, as he grows, is that he will have a heart for God (and maybe still a tiny bit of room in there for ol' Mom and Dad).

Happy 2nd (or 6th?) birthday J.R. Buddy Whitaker.  We love you so much!!
