January 2012 has turned out to be quite alright. In true January fashion, we are clinging to a couple of newfound habits that we hope will make it to spring! Namely, we joined "e-mealz" (http://e-mealz.com/) after months of thinking about it and numerous nights of poor menu planning that lead to multiple trips to Riviera Maya (our fave Mexican restaurant)! ;) We now get weekly menus with shopping lists geared towards Wal-Mart weekly specials. It has been fun to try new things...and to actually have a plan!! We hope it will lend itself to some cost/time savings and less dinnertime burnout!! So far, so good!

Whitney loves to play "teacher"! Doesn't she look so studious?! She only brings about 3 backpacks and 12 toys to "class"! Always ready to learn!
This was so NOT staged!! It is hilarious to see Whitney perusing my People magazines. In order to preserve their structural integrity, I often need to hide them since they become playtime fodder, but she knows if I try to replace them with just any ol' magazine!!
Fun times at the Indianapolis Children's Museum with Cousin Tyler, Aunt Kara, and Baby Reese! I thought I would be such a big help to Kara since she was multi-tasking with a 6-week old, but I could hardly keep up with my wild 3-year-old with all of the excitement there!!
Future astronaut?? Speaking of astronauts...Whitney saw a picture of herself the other day when she used to wear the cranial helmet and proudly said, "I was an astronaut!!" :)
Ben and I made our way down to Super Bowl Village in Indianapolis this past Sunday and had a really fun afternoon....well, until we got back to the car and had no power!! My battery was dead and, as you can see from the picture, it was a rather cold day!! Fortunately, Whitney was with her Grandma and Grandpa...and Dallas came straight to our rescue to get us jump started. And, got us a new battery! Oh, the car drama we have had over the last two months!!! A couple of weeks before Christmas, on a trip home from Indy, ironically, my car broke down and we had to have the transmission replaced--Merry Christmas!! ;) Two long weeks later, I was so happy to get my "Bluebelle" back. Last week, Ben's driver's side door handle broke off when we had some sleet/freezing rain. Doh. He later spent an hour on YouTube watching a man replace a Toyota door handle...and felt inspired to order one that night! But, yesterday, "Blackie" (Ben's car) got broken in to while he was at work! Fortunately, there are not too many valuables in Blackie, unless you count Whitney's beloved "Blankie" that avoided capture in the back seat! The thing that Ben was most upset about being gone was a $10 McDonald's gift card! For the love of Pete!! Glad we have been able to find the humor in all of this!!!
So, as January comes to a close, we are healing, resolving, loving, playing, eating...and laughing. Thanks, Jan!!!
